ABOUT

Brittney Williams is a native Houstonian with over 10 years of labor and employment experience.  Brittney provides a full range of labor and employment law services, including pre-termination counseling; Equal Employment Opportunity training; employee handbook review; leaves of absence and reduction in force advice; as well as drafts policies, employee handbooks, and employment-related agreements.  She represents clients before administrative agencies in arbitration, and in state and federal court for labor and employment disputes, including, but not limited to disputes involving employment contracts; the Fair Labor Standards Act; and claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. 


She has a background in business that dates back to high school at Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in the Business Magnet and International Baccalaureate Programs, to her B.B.A. from the Red McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.  Her start in labor and employment law also dates back to her senior year of high school, when she interned in the labor and employment department of one the world’s largest oil and gas companies.  She attended UCLA School of Law, and during her second year, she served as a judicial clerk for Administrative Judge Louis Garcia at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and as a law clerk for the National Labor Relations Board, Region 31.


During law school, Brittney had the honor of serving on UCLA's Black Student Association's ("BLSA") Executive Board as the 1L Representative from 2010-2011, Co-Chair from 2011-2012, and 3L Representative from 2012-2013. UCLA's BLSA received the title of Western Region BLSA Chapter of the Year in 2012.

She also served as a Co-Chair of UCLA's legal clinic, Public Counsel CARES ("Connecting Angelenos to Resources and Essential Services"), helping individuals understand their rights and access necessary resources.

 
In her free time, Brittney enjoys taking boxing classes and trying new restaurants.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained a dismissal on all causes of action (Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, Violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, Negligence, and Respondent Superior) pursuant to a TRCP Rule 91a Motion to Dismiss, and a judgment for attorneys’ fees and costs. 
     

  • Obtained a favorable outcome to defendant's (employer) motion to dismiss pursuant to the Texas Citizens Participation Act, Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (Anti- SLAPP). 
     

  • Obtained a dismissal on all causes of action (Sexual Harassment, Dangerous Work Environment, and Violations of Break Times) pursuant to a TRCP Rule 91a Motion to Dismiss. 
     

  • Obtained a denial of defendant’s (employee) motion to dismiss pursuant to the Texas Citizens Participation Act. 
     

  • Obtained favorable defense rulings against administrative actions brought by charging parties before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission.
